FISHING
On 'The Bay' there are numerous fishing spots including six main reefs which are great 'hot- spots' for catching fish. The reefs can be easily found provided you have a good map, if not you should be able to obtain one from the various Tackle Stores around the bay. Once you have a boat, and decent equipment, you should be right to go out on the water to fish. Hiring a boat while your in the bay is a breeze, because not only is the heaps of places to hire, most of them require very few paperwork and can have you on the water that very day! FRASER ISLAND
Fraser Island is opposite to Hervey Bay and is 120km long and between 5 to 25 Km wide. Fraser Island has many different activities, sightseeing, Whale watching, Fishing and four wheel driving. If you were planning to stay a night at this wonderful place you can either set up your tent in permitted areas or rent a beach house or stay in a apartments.
There are dozens of lakes situated on Fraser Island and also there are rainforests all through the Island and sand blows. Also there are 230 different species of birds and one of Australia’s purest animal the Dingo and other animals help contribute to the rest of the wildlife.
An aboriginal tribe called the Butchalla Tribe has lived on Fraser Island for the past 5000 years. Their food and forest supplies were very high and about 160 years ago there were about 2000 Butchalla people living on Fraser Island. 40 years after most of the aboriginal people got sent away. There were only 150 Butchalla people left on Fraser Island. They were taking off the island to keep the main land preserved
WATER SPORTS
