Today I made the front page of our website. I mainly used dream-weaver and photo impact. I have learnt how to save frames, how to make transparent titles, how to make a frame page, and how to change border colors. My goal for next lesson would probably be to make a button and to get it to function properly and also to be able to change middle frames without changing the rest of the main frame page. I think I did a pretty good job with the frames and the background and I handled it better than usual.
Today I worked on putting the frames together and figuring out which link buttons to use with Georgie. We chose a red button that looked like a blood splat that you would find on the road. We put our about us, Photos and journal buttons on the front page, but we have not linked them to any pages yet. I think we could improve the size of the button fonts and where they are put in the border (they are sort of squished against the left border line.)
Today I worked on the about us writing and the producers column. I also made a logo for our group out of squares and with writing on it saying ‘Road Kill Awareness’. Georgie made the contacts page, which I think looks really good. Rosie started on the facts page, but I haven’t seen it yet. We still have to improve the buttons and the links, but all together we have done very well on our website.
Today Georgie and I worked on one computer so that we could finally finish the buttons and links. It took a few goes but in the end we finished it up. All we need to do now is add more to the information pages and the photo page. We are also planning to make a video which we will put in the extras page on our site. I think we could have worked a bit faster, but today we put a lot of effort into our website. Next week I’m going to put some photos into the photos page and finish off a few other pages. If we have time I’m going to try to spiff up the page.
Today we mainly worked on the projects page and linking them to the right web pages. I also finally started adding photos and captions. We are really starting to get somewhere with our web page. And I think it’s coming together really well. We could still improve some things, not just about the web page but about the way we work together. If one of us gets stuck, all of us get stuck. It’s like a dominos effect where all our brains shut off in tune. But all together we are giving it our all most of the time. I think I really need to improve with my saving skills. For example I save everything with similar names or just the name ‘untitled’ which really doesn’t help! I also learnt something that I never knew about while saving documents. What I learnt is that you cannot put a full stop after the last word in your file title because if you do you can confuse the computer and it will save it as the wrong type of file. Opps! The next time we work on our websites I’m going to put more photos on and finish the projects page. I will also finish the how to help page.
