Hello my name is Jessica Hinds. I really do not agree with the fact that the counsil are going to build a dam near the Mary River that could endanger lots of animals and their habitats. I feel sad about all the people that are going to loose their land or home due to make space for the dam.
The Mary River provides a home for people to;fish, canoe, have nice views and heaps more. It also provides homes for animals such as the Mary River turtle that relies on the muddy banks to lay their eggs, the Mary river cod that relies on the nice shallow waters to swim and the Lungfish that like to swim their as well.
The dam will be built at a section of the Mary River called the Traverston Crossing. If the dam gets built it will take a long time as the dam will be in two sectons. If the dam gets built the water will go to areas such as Brisebane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast.
I feel that if the dam is going to be built, the water should at least go to areas that have been destroyed such as some of Gympie and Maryborough.
So help save the Mary and the animals by signing a potition, as the more signatures the less likely the dam will be built.
