Weather on a farm

    • Weather on a farm can vary depending on the different troughs and pressure systems in the surrounding regions.

    • Weather can affect farms hugely depending on the amount of rainfall the area has during the year and a couple of inches every month can be the difference between being successful and losing everything.

    • If vineyards and horticultural farms don’t have enough rain, the crops could quite easily die which puts the owners in a lot of debt.

    • Yet if they get too much rain, the crops could get root rot and die or it could cause a flood and do lots of damage to the farm.

    • If livestock farms get enough rain they can easily maintain a decent water supply which keeps the animals alive and well which is critical when farming livestock.

    • If there isn’t enough rainfall then water must be bought to feed the animals which is quite expensive and may not even be worth doing.

    • Lightning storms can cause massive damage to a farm if the lightning hits nearby bush causing large bushfires.

    • Floods can be very dangerous to both livestock and horticulture farms.
