Whales eat tiny sea creatures called krill, krill is mostly found in the antartic. Whales can hold thier breath for up to 40 minutes but lots of whales get killed every year. Whales have to holes on the top of thier heads called blow holes. They are for breathing sort of like a nose. What the whale is doing in the picture is breaching breaching is when a whale jumps out of the water and lands on its back. There are lots of other things whales do like head lundging and spy hopping.
