I was very excited when I heard about a new S.O.S.E project on the second last day of last term, especially when I heard that we would be building a website on Adobe Dreamweaver. I very much enjoy building and coding websites. The subject of the project is Active Citizens and we have to select a topic and complete five different tasks that you can choose from. My topic I decided on was the lack of equestrian schools in Hervey Bay because I am greatly affected by it because I am an avid horse rider. For my first task I chose the Visual/Spatial activity which is to draw a picture that describes your feelings towards your topic. I chose to create a photo manipulation on Photoshop. I chose to have a horse grazing in a field near an equestrian school and two eyes in the background crying. I also chose the lyrics ‘can’t you see what your doing to me, can’t you see I’m falling apart’ from Kyle Downes’ song ‘Can’t You See’ to demonstrate my feeling of extreme sadness towards this issue. For the second part of the project I chose to write an essay about my topic, and I think I did very well. I have been put in a group with my good friend Chloe and I believe we will work very well together on our website. I also believe we have a good chance of winning the QSITE Web Challenge.

ALMOST DONE! Chloe has finished all her pages and I’m almost done! I’m working on the image gallery and it shouldn’t be to far from being finished. I have a feeling we’re in for the long haul. Chloe and I work brilliantly together, and unlike some people when they’re paired with their friends, we’re getting our work done quickly and efficiently. I can’t believe it. So close yet so far. I have found some images on the web and resized them. It’s a pretty long process with lots of clicking and dragging. It took a while but it’s almost done. I can’t wait until next time we work on Dreamweaver, I think it’s a great program.

Chloe is away today but she’s already finished all her pages so she doesn’t have to do much now. I’m hoping to get the image gallery done by the end of today and should be able to, as long as I can work consistently through out the session. Once I’ve finished the image gallery I can get to work on spicing up the website. I think that Chloe and I are working brilliantly together and she very co-operative. I absolutely love Dreamweaver! It makes coding so much easier for me. The color coordinating of codes that go together and the simple buttons helps making websites so much easier than using plain old notepad. I’m begging mum for Dreamweaver at home but I don’t think she’ll get it for me, it’s too expensive. I still think we have a chance of winning the QSITE web challenge.

Second day of spring! No more winter. I can feel my mood rising with the heat! I feel great because we’ve finally finished our website! Today we just added the last images. We just need to add the journal and my photo manipulation. We’re so close I can taste it. I feel really good today and I have a feeling we’re going to do brilliantly in the web challenge. Chloe and I are still working brilliantly together. She was at an equestrian comp the other day and is back and raring to go. I love our soft blue feel in our website and it really appeals to the eye. The links are really good and all working. The frames are working well and the text is staying in the same spot. The image gallery is nice and sorted. I have to bring in the file for my photo manipulation tomorrow so I can add it to the website. I like the header at the top of the page that I made in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I much prefer CS3 to Elements 6.0 because it has more options and better tools. Dreamweaver is still brilliant. I made some funny pictures of us in the website, the ones on the Equi-Knights page, which are really cool. Chloe is an archer and I’m a knight! Yay!

On the last day of last term the teacher assigned us a S.O.S.E project, which I was really annoyed about because I had to do a project in the holidays in MY OWN time, when I could be doing better things like riding and spending time with Vinnie. So I started doing my project in the holidays but when I went back to school, I found out that we didn’t have to do it!! I was quite annoyed because I wasted time though I have done a better job now that I have had Mrs Harvey explain more. I paired up with Eilish and we chose the topic ‘We need another equestrian school in Hervey Bay’. We chose the issue because Eilish used to be happy riding at the Dundowran Equestrian Centre though it has recently closed down because there wasn’t enough riding instructors. The only other places to ride in Hervey Bay is Susan River Homestead which only does trail riding and the Wide Bay Equestrian Park which isn’t a very good place, according to some friends. So we hopefully when we make our website lots of people will view it and realize this issue and help take it forward to the local government. I chose to do a mind map which includes what’s wrong with the current riding schools. I also wrote a story about how a lack of riding schools affects Eilish and her love of riding. I really hope people will agree when they see the website that we have made!

I have completed all of my sections of the website (thank God!) because I really don’t understand Dreamweaver…though at least I’m partnered with Eilish because she understands it fully! Eilish showed me all about codes and all that, because I don’t know how to read it. I have learnt how to work Dreamweaver a bit better though, and I’m getting along with it pretty well. We’re almost done the website, and I hope to finish it soon so people can see our concerns and help us. I think that people will see our website (hopefully the local government!) and realize we DO need another equestrian centre in Hervey Bay. We still need to put in all the fancy stuff like link it all together.

Yay we have finished the website!! Eilish just needs to put in our manipulated photos and we need to put in our journal thingos and then we’re done :D .
Once I got to know how to do everything on Dreamweaver making the website was pretty easy, and I think it’s a pretty good assignment! I had heaps of fun and it’s cool how the website is actually going to be put on the internet!
Eilish and I have been working well together and I reckon we make a pretty good team especially since we both know a lot about the subject. I think we will probably get a fairly good mark and may have a chance of winning the competition. Our information is very informative and will hopefully get our message across. The colour of the website is a light blue and is consistent the website. We have a header at the top of each page and it was photo manipulated by Eilish. It’s really cool…though the website is a bit plain…it’s still cool :P .
Now Eilish has put in the manipulated pictures and they are awesome. She cut out pictures of our faces and put them on other photos. Now all we need to do is put in these journal entries…then the website will be complete.
