A True Story

Eilish is a good friend of mine, one of the reasons is because she loves horses, like me. The unfortunate thing is that she isn't able to get a horse for a while, so she has to miss out on riding lessons and the only place she can go for riding lessons is Kiah Park which only does holiday camps. Eilish is very upset about this, although she loves Kiah Park, she would prefer to do regular lessons at a local riding school. She can't go to pony club because she doesn't have a horse, and same goes with Active Riders. She used to enjoy riding at the Dundowran Equestrian centre though it has apparantly shut down due to a shortage of instructors. The only other riding places in the bay are Susan River Homestead and the Wide Bay Equestrian Park behind it, though there are problems with them too. Susan River only does trail riding and no lessons, and they do a style of riding called Western Riding which some people don't like, including Eilish. According to some people I know, the horses at the Wide Bay Equestrian Park are not very well looked after, for example, they are severley under weight. It is very expensive, too. They charge about $40 for a ten minute lesson, when I know a place in Sydney that charges that amount of money for an hour lesson, so I think that's a rip off! So basically the people I know who have been there wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Another problem with Susan River and Wide Bay Equestrian Park is that it's a long drive out of Hervey Bay, it's about half way between here and Maryborough. So to sum up the whole unfortunate scenario, if we had a good riding school Eilish would be very happy and would achieve so much more in riding and become a more wonderful rider than she already is and so would all the people that have to miss out on lessons due to this problem.
