My Journal:
31st July - For my S.O.S.E project I chose to do it about ‘development on the Urangan Esplanade’. I chose this topic because I am down at the Urangan Esplanade on a regular basis and it is a topic I can relate to and put my opinion into. In my group it is just me and Eloise because for us to work together due to being good friends and it being easy for us to go to each others houses it is easy or call each other to help with the projects.
In the holidays Ellie and I thought about our project and I made start on it by taking pictures and preparing for my photo album. I thought it was a good thing to do – to get started early – and it turned out that it was. It made it easier to complete the task because we already knew what we were doing.
We began on our survey on the Development of The Urangan Esplanade and came up with a total of 7 questions. The survey benefited both me and Ellie because Ellie used it for her first task (make a survey to ask people in the area that are affected by this issue) and it helped me because I needed to use it for my 2nd task (use survey results to construct graphs to illustrate the point of the issue) so we both needed the survey, that’s why we did it together. We surveyed the class first to get an opinion from the youth of Hervey Bay and to see what they thought on this issue. The general response we got from the class was that it was a negative thing. We thought we got this response because the students have no experience in business and just have concerns on the environment and not on the business world eg: Money, tourist. We also surveyed 5 adults in the business district down in Urangan. This was a very good experience to talk to these people and get there view on this issue, Ellie and I learnt a lot from it. We did a draft on the survey on a big piece of paper so that we didn’t make a decision on the real copy. We took breaks in between writing that down because it was tiring writing it down but in the end it came out a great result. I think the survey and the graphs look really good and I am happy with the way we did it.
In our survey we both had an equal input. We took turns either interviewing or writing it down. I think that the way we did it was a great system because it meant no one was doing more than the other and that the load of the project was shared to make us both remain on top of it without getting confused and frustrated.
I have not yet finished the second part of my project because I have been sick lately so I will have to finish it tonight and hand it in tomorrow, but so far it looks good.
For the second part of the project Ellie and I worked separately because the task were not alike and they required our own creativity , not someone else’s, so we decided to do that one separately. I think Ellie’s project (information poster) turned our great and I think my photos will look great to.
1st August – I have finished my 2nd project which I think looks good. Dreamweaver is proving to be difficult and frustrating.
27th August – now the website is almost done and there is only a few pages plus hyperlinks to complete. The group is working well even though Dreamweaver is really hard. We have almost figured most things about it and are starting to get the hang of it. We have had some trouble with putting in titles and pictures but I think today we resolved it (hopefully!) there has also been a problem with saving things but we have fixed that.
29th August – 12:54pm- today we hope to achieve the following: task pages, group page and maybe start some hyperlinks, but the hyperlinks are not a main priority today because we have lots of time to do that. Ellie has to type up her survey and I have to remember to bring in my things on a USB.

2nd September – Today we put all our pages together and started to do hyperlinks and fixing up any problems we had with the pages. Some of the hyperlinks aren’t working and I do not know why that is but I will try to fix it. We no longer have a problem with saving things because Ellie has organised her pages and that has helped with some problems. I think the website is going well and we will be finished on Thursday. I just have to bring in my photos and Ellie has to scan her poster. Then once we put them on we can just “tidy” things up and it should be fine.
