For my task 2 I made a series of graphs to represent data supplied by the survey that Eloise presented as a survey.
| Do you think that the old houses on the Esplanade should be bulldozed or left as they are? |
34% of people believed that the houses should be bulldozed due to the un-attractivness of the buildings and/or they belived that the houses need to be gone to make room for hotels and shops, but 66% of people believed that the houses should be left as they are becasue they give Hervey Bay a country look and doesnt make the town look like the gold coast - high rises, restraunts and shops everywhere.
| Do you think there are more positives ore negatives to development ? |
The majority of people thought there was more negatives in this situation due to a number of reasons. Many being about pollution issues and prices of housing going up. Only 5 people in our survey of 35 believed that there were more positives in development. The one thing that I notted was that the 30 people that said more negative were students that haven't had experience with business and money, were as the adults we serveyed all said more positive becasue they are aware of money needs and understand that if theres more development, theres more people, which means more money for there business and more money for them.
| What would you prefer to be developed out of the following? |
when we did our survey we discovered that most people believed that the Urangan Esplanade needed all types of development. Bbq areas was also a popular choice because it is a fun, free thing to do and lots of people enjoy it. Unlike the other graphs there was more people supporting development with only 6 people saying that they would prefer to have nothing.
| Do you think that the development surrounding the peir is a good thing or a bad thing ? |
The general response we got from everyone was that it was a great thing to have bbqs and new pavers put into Dayman Park. Those 30 people that said it was a good thing believed that it was a good thing for the following resons : It brings more people down there, it lets u enjoy the natural beauty and it is a great way to show off a beautiful tourist attraction in Hervey Bay.
| In the long run will development ruin Hervey Bay or make it better? |
Majority of people believe that in the long run Hervey Bay will benefit from development in Urangan. This is because they believe that it will make Hervey Bay a more popular place to vistit and lower the average age in Hervey Bay. The small amount of people that think development will ruin Hervey Bay have there resons too. They think that by developing Urangan it will polute Hervey Bay and make Hervey Bay to busy.
