There seem to be a miniscule number of positives emerging form the issue of whaling, and of course the benefit it to Japan. For every whale hunted and sold, $100 000 worth of blubber is earned. This is a $40 million dollar a year industry for Japan, and also provides jobs for people as well. Also, since the International Whaling Committee (IWC) banned commercial whaling in the North Pacific in 1966, and the southern hemisphere in 1967, whalers have claimed that they are only carrying out scientific research, this probably be a good thing, if they didn’t slaughter the animal after they finished.
