Whale blubber is a layer of fat just below the skin of the whale. The purpose of blubber for the whale is to provide insulation from the cold water and it stores as energy. Whale blubber was originally used for candals, and burning in lamps and a variety of different things. The blubber was first bolied then used for these purposes.
