A hailstorm is another type of storm that can do a lot of damage. It consists of billions of chunks of ice. Most chunks of ice usually are the size of a small golf ball 5mm-50mm, if not smaller. Some other chunks can be the size of a big grapefruit. These chunks of ice are not actually snow. Most hailstorms take place during an ordinary thunder storms. Hailstorms are produced by cumulonimbus (thunderclouds).
Hail can do a lot of damage especially to cars, boat, caravans and houses. Some buildings with glass roofs can be badly damaged as well. Hail can be identified by the colour of the clouds. It is normally a green colour that is seen in the clouds that the hail is in. |
